Fantastic news, foodies: Perth’s much-loved Night Noodle Markets are returning in 2020 with a new home at Yagan Square. For 12 days from March 25 to April 5, Western Australia’s capital will be treated to the vibrant flavours and aromas of world-class Asian street food plated up by some of the culinary scene’s best names. From signature staples to innovative creations, get your fill at this nightly hawker-style market and soak up the atmosphere amidst DJs, live music and some lion dancing.

The Night Noodle Markets are a feature of Good Food Month which sees a number of gastronomic events come to Perth in late March and throughout April. Entry is free and dogs are welcome – there’s simply no excuse not to head down for a bite to eat. Just remember that it’s fully cashless, so make sure your card or digital wallet doesn’t get left behind as you rush out the door

Take a flavour journey through Asia

Almost twenty hawker-style stalls will be lining up for 12 days during the festival, so be sure to leave plenty of room in your stomach before you venture over to Yagan Square. While it’s always good to spy on the meals you see carried around on the night, check the menus in advance to get the lay of the land and prevent any distressing food dilemmas caused by the sheer number of tantalising dishes to try. Seriously, it’s going to be hard to choose.

Vendors lined up for the Night Noodle Markets include two local darlings in Fry’d and Kumokumo plus a host of all stars from all over Australia:

    When and where

After three years at Elizabeth Quay, the Night Noodles Markets are moving inland to Yagan Square in the very heart of the city. Yagan Square is roughly half an hour by foot from Fraser Suites Perth, around 15 minutes on one of the many buses operating along Adelaide Terrace or under 10 in a taxi.

The markets will be open from Wednesday the 25th of March until Sunday the 5th of April, with opening hours as follows:

    Monday to Wednesday: 5pm – 9pm

    Thursday and Friday: 5pm – 10pm

    Saturday: 4pm – 10pm

    Sunday: 4pm – 9pm

What else is on during Good Food Month?

The Night Noodle Markets aren’t the only place to sink your teeth into some delicious bites in Perth this March and April. It’s the sixth edition of Good Food Month and there is plenty to get excited about, with some of the best chefs in Perth and around Australia gathering to celebrate and build on the city’s vibrant culture of food and community. The four feature events of the festival of food will be:

    • GOMA x Yarri x Wildflower
    • Lulu La Delizia x Fico x Tipo 00
    • High Tea with Adriano Zumbo
    • The Young Chefs Lunch

All four events are sadly sold out, so we won’t go into detail and have you suffer through any food envy. The demand for Good Food Month proves Perth’s love of culinary delights, whether it be a passion for cooking, writing, critiquing, innovating or simply eating!

The good news is that while tickets to feature events have been snatched up, there are still plenty of other events to stick your fork into.

    Let’s Do Lunch

After extremely popular runs in previous years, Let’s Do Lunch returns to Good Food Month with set-priced packages at a range of Perth’s most acclaimed restaurants. For the curated price of $45 per event, enjoy the best lunches the city has to offer along with a complimentary glass of beer, wine or something soft. Local favourites Long Chim, Young George and Le Rebelle are among the participating venues this year, so be sure to book online before you miss out.

    Friends of Good Food Month

Just like Let’s do Lunch, Friends of Good Food Month returns to Perth in 2020 after an excellent reception among foodies in years gone by. The initiative sees the city’s best restaurants host unique events and experiences tailored to exhibit their signature dishes and show off their contribution to Perth’s extensive culinary talents.
